NBA Commissioner Adam Silver handed down a 25-game suspension to the Grizzlies playmaker during the summer. After losing to the Lakers in Game 6 of the West first round on April 28, Morant will play in a competitive game for the first time this season.

Considering its sluggish start without him, Memphis needs Morant to be available, strong, and healthy.

“He explicitly conveyed, ‘Absolutely not, you take charge of the ball,'” Morant recounted following the Grizzlies’ triumphant 115-113 victory on Tuesday night. “At that juncture, my focus sharpened, and I embraced the responsibility to execute. And execute I did.”

With a game-winning buzzer-beater to cap off a 34-point, 6-rebound, and 8-assist effort, Morant delivered a dramatic performance. He used a spin move in the lane to beat Pelicans defensive stopper Herbert Jones, and as time ran out at the Smoothie King Center, he laid the ball in.

In 35 minutes, Morant scored 34 points on 12 of 24 shots, pulled down six rebounds, had two steals, a block, and eight assists. It was a remarkable performance for the star player. While he was 0 for 12 at the foul line, he made all five of his 3-point attempts miss.

The Grizzlies were down 24 points in the second quarter after the Pelicans outscored them 39–16, with Brandon Ingram leading the way with 34 points on 11 of 18 shots. Despite playing only 25 minutes, Zion Williamson scored 13 points (5 of 12) with four assists and three rebounds.

With 34 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists, Morant had a stellar game. That game-winning play was his biggest play of the evening.https://citytimesnow.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=3431&action=edit
